Another week already and time for Weekend Writing Warriors! If you want to know more about this blog hop, click the link to read about it and enter your link to get listed.

I’ve been using snippets from my WIP currently called STOPPING BULLETS. My main character is a young woman, Justine, with a talent for stopping bullets and moving other things with her mind. She lives a secretive life to avoid becoming a lab rat somewhere. But her secret isn’t going to stay secret much longer.

I’ll continue from where I left off last week, at the end of scene 1, where Justine walked away from Quinn after he’d recognized her. But her step hitched briefly when he said her name, giving away her identity. (For the full story so far, see my past SSS posts! The first one is here.) For context, the final line of that last post was “That would tell him all he needed to know.”

This next eight starts scene 2!

“Hey, Justine!”
I looked up from filling a sugar dispenser that didn’t need filling to see the other waitress, Maria, looking at me, dishrag in hand.
“Where’s your head, chica? Thought I was talking to you. Turns out I was talking to the salt shaker.”
I shook my head. “Yeah…” What could I say?

This is a work in progress, so with that in mind, I welcome your comments!
