It’s Six Sentence Sunday again! I’ve made this a regular thing so readers could get a real feel for my WIP. Soon you’ll be seeing some variety in my posts! Now I give you Six Sentence Sunday.
Six Sentence Sunday, or #sixsunday, is just what it sounds like: I post six sentences from my work on my blog. That’s it! Follow the link in the caption if you’re interested in participating.
This week’s excerpt is from my WIP currently called STOPPING BULLETS (still awaiting a better title). My main character is a young woman, Justine, with a talent for stopping bullets and moving other things with her mind. She lives a secretive life to avoid becoming an experiment in a lab somewhere.
I’ll just pick up where I left off last week, when Justine had jumped behind a tree after hearing footsteps behind her.
“Stop! Police!”
I groaned. Just what I needed. I glanced behind me, but bushes blocked an easy exit. I gripped the tree’s rough bark.
This is hardly a finalized work, so with that in mind, feel free to comment!
Tense 6! Now I wonder what she’s going to do with the bark!
Thanks, Angela! I’m thinking the tight focus on the few sentences puts unnecessary emphasis on those last couple words. Sorry, nothing special about the bark! Things are about to happen, though!
Intriguing. The premise has me curious and your snippet leaves me wanting to know more. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks, Goran! That’s all a writer ever wants to hear. Things are about to get interesting too, so stay tuned!
