Characters, Emotion & Viewpoint: Techniques and exercises for crafting dynamic characters and effective viewpoints Characters, Emotion & Viewpoint: Techniques and exercises for crafting dynamic characters and effective viewpoints by Nancy Kress

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A terrific book for writers that dissects the elements of writing characters, portraying their emotions, and handling POV. Several chapters are devoted to each topic, and Kress shows how these three elements of a story are intertwined and related to each other.

As I worked with this book, I continuously had ideas for how to deepen my characters. The variety of exercises at the end of each chapter provided me with many ways to put the ideas I had learned to use immediately. My work in progress is definitely better because of this book.

There was so much to learn here that I know will be returning to this book soon.
